A little care makes the ritual last longer.
Here’s how to keep your candle burning slow and steady — just the way it’s meant to.
Trim the wick
Before each burn, trim your wick to around 5mm.
This helps the flame stay clean, even, and calm.
First light, full melt
On your first burn, let the wax melt right to the edges before blowing it out.
This sets the memory and prevents tunnelling in the future.
Burn slow, not long
Never burn your candle for more than 3 hours at a time.
Once your candle is halfway down, reduce each burn to about 1 hour and keep a close eye on it.
Know when to let go
Stop burning your candle when there’s about 10–15mm of wax left at the bottom.
It’s safer — and you’ve already had the best of it.
Aftercare
Let the wax cool before trimming the wick again.
This prevents mushrooming and keeps the next burn clean.
When it’s finished, wash out the jar with hot water and detergent.
Reuse it, gift it, or return to ritual.
